Our Trustees

The role of our trustees is to look after the interests of the members in a sustainable way, which meets with our aims and objectives as a sports club, and fits with our position and purpose in the community.
Mark SteerMark Steer – Treasurer
I am a Chartered Management Accountant and member of the Chartered Insurance Institute and have worked predominantly for blue chip financial services companies over the last 15 years and I specialise in business partnering. I am also currently studying for an MBA part time at Henley Business School.

My role as Treasurer of Golden Hill Sports is to ensure prudent financial management of the charity assets and ensure that all regulatory reporting is completed accurately and on time.

John ColleyJohn Colley
Having joined YMCA at the age of 14, I became Director of Cricket and Youth Cricket at the age of 20. I have held a number of roles and became a trustee in 2015. Won a Natwest OSCA in am excited about the future of the club with the quality of our youth set up.
Hopefully we can build on our base and push the club forward with our ever improving facilities.

I joined what was then the Young Men’s Christian Association back in the Jurassic Age. Before you could even think about playing cricket, you had to be interviewed at the former headquarters in Colston Street to see if you were a ‘fit & proper’ person to become a member of the YMCA itself. Well I got lucky that day and I think I have been lucky ever since when I consider all the people I’ve met, lifelong friends I’ve made and the fun and enjoyment I’ve had over the past five decades, playing cricket for and being part of what became Golden Hill Sports in 2007.
I see my role as a trustee as dealing with all the responsibilities which come with running a sports club, so that the current and future generations have the same opportunities I had, and hopefully get the same amount of enjoyment from it.
Like the other trustees, I have a specific topic which I cover, and in my case it’s community relations, which means making sure we stay in touch with our immediate neighbours and those further afield, many of whom helped us raise the money to buy the ground and form Golden Hill Sports nearly 10 years ago.
