Boys' Cricket at Golden Hill

The boys' set-up at Golden Hill Cricket Club stands out as one of the most expansive and well-established in the county, providing a solid foundation for aspiring cricketers. Our comprehensive offering caters to boys aged 8 to 19, with a focus on nurturing talent across varying skill levels. We prioritise the individual needs of our players, whether that be enhancing specific cricket skills, fostering a genuine enjoyment of the game, engaging in competitive play or integrating these elements for a holistic development experience. This tailored approach not only promotes skills development but also instils a lasting love for the game.

We take pride in preparing top-quality players who go on to represent the Gloucestershire CAG and EPP teams. Our strong presence in winter training squads and summer training squads is a testament to the dedication and talent within our boys' section. The success of our players, highlighted by their participation in county cricket, reflects the effectiveness of our training methodologies. This commitment is further evidenced by the array of trophies we have accumulated, showcasing both individual player growth and overall team success.

In terms of competition, we field multiple teams across various age groups, ranging from U11 to U17, in the Bristol Youth Cricket League. Our participation in the Gloucestershire Youth Cricket League further extends our reach, with teams at U11, U13, U15, U16, U17 and U19 age groups. We believe in promoting junior players to adult cricket starting at age 13, offering them invaluable experience by integrating them into our eight senior sides that compete in league cricket. Many of our talented young cricketers have the opportunity to showcase their abilities at 1st and 2nd team levels, solidifying their path toward a higher level of competitive cricket.

As we prepare for each new season, we implement a well-structured winter training programme running from January to April. This prepares our players meticulously for the upcoming season, honing their batting, bowling and fielding skills under the guidance of ECB-qualified coaches.  During the summer, we also enlist the expertise of an overseas coach to ensure all players receive comprehensive training throughout the season.

Each age group enjoys designated training evenings, fostering a sense of structure and team cohesion.

Inclusivity and diversity are at the core of our values and we strive to welcome anyone eager to join our vibrant set-up. However, due to high demand, prospective new players may need to join a waiting list but we endeavour to accommodate new members as swiftly as possible.​
